Private lessons

Learn to throw on the potter’s wheel

I offer private pottery wheel-throwing and handbuilding lessons in a fun, relaxed environment at my home studio in Newtown, Wellington.

A 2-hour lesson includes introduction to clay and working on or off the pottery wheel. You will be able to create a few small pieces (approx 300g).

All materials and firing included. You will have the opportunity to choose from a range of glazes I make myself before you leave. Once your pieces have dried a bit, I will trim them, bisque fire to 900 C, then glaze, and finally fire a second time to 1220C in my kiln, and they will be ready to pick up about 2 weeks later.

These lessons are designed as a one-off taster (or focused masterclass for those with experience) rather than on-going regular tuition.  Check out my 5-week courses if you are interested in learning more.

All you need to bring are clothes you don’t mind getting a bit muddy. Please note my workshop is not heated so it can get cold!

Prices start at $120 for a 2-hour lesson including all materials and firing for one person, $200 for 2, and $300 for 3.

For more than 3 people, read below about booking a private workshop.

My refunds policy applies to all workshop, classes and lesson bookings.

You can also purchase gift vouchers in my shop and then the recipient can make a booking above.
