Private pottery lessons

Learn to throw on the potter’s wheel

I offer private pottery wheel-throwing and handbuilding lessons in a fun, relaxed environment at my home studio in Newtown, Wellington.

A 2-hour lesson includes introduction to clay and working on or off the pottery wheel. You will be able to create a few small pieces (approx 300g).

What’s included

All materials and firing included for each person to create up to 5 pieces of approximately 300g. You will have the opportunity to choose from a range of glazes I make myself before you leave. Once your pieces have dried a bit, I will trim them, bisque fire to 900 C, then glaze, and finally fire a second time to 1220C in my kiln, and they will be ready to pick up about 2 weeks later.

All you need to bring is a towel and clothes you don’t mind getting a bit muddy. Please note my workshop is not heated so it can get cold!

Pricing and Ts & Cs

Prices start at $120 for a 2-hour lesson including all materials and firing for one person, $200 for 2, and $300 for 3.

For more than 3 people, read about booking a private workshop.

These lessons are designed as a one-off taster (or focused masterclass for those with experience) rather than on-going regular tuition.  Check out my 5-week courses if you are interested in learning more.

My refunds policy applies to all workshop, classes and lesson bookings.

You can also purchase gift vouchers in my shop and then the recipient can make a booking below.
